Paolo Scavino
Varietal: Blend
Vintage: 2013

Tasting Notes: A stunning balance of acid, tannin, earth, fruit and herbs. The licorice and rose jump out of the glass like you expect from a Barolo Cherry and plum start to showcase in the mid-palate, and then the chalky tannins take hold and start to evolve the flavors to herbs and nutmeg spice. This wine keeps delivering, transforming into blackberries and leather long after the first sip.

Dal Forno Romano Amarone 2008

98
Dal Forno Romano
Fanciful Name: Amarone
Varietal: Blend

Tasting Notes: Intense aromas that exude from the glass. Licorice and leather with balsamic and dried cherries are in the forefront. As you sip on this wine, the dried raspberries, rose petal, olive and mineral slate notes come forward. Clove and bitter chocolate come out on this long, long finish. The tannins are structured and need a little time in the glass to soften. A wonderful example of great quality Amarone. Enjoy with roasted or cured meats.

Il Fauno di Arcanum

The nose explodes with bright raspberries and wild berries, with some floral tones of lavender. The slightly higher-than-usual acids firmly frame a potpourri of blueberry and sour cherry.
